Performed on 27th - 29th June 2024 @ Library Theatre
When the Prime Minister drops dead from an apparent heart attack on the eve of a general election, two cabinet members who fear they need his charisma to get re-elected hire an out of work actor to replace the deceased. This ‘dead ringer’ is just supposed to fill in until after the election is won, but he starts to enjoy his new role a little too much...
The play was first presented in London by Bill Kenwright together with the author Charles Ross in 1983 at the Duke of York’s Theatre, where it had a most successful run and great reviews.
