Coming on 18th - 20th Sept 2025 @ Library Theatre
Imagine a place where, after death, you’re given the chance to select just one memory to live in for eternity. After Life, written by Jack Thorne and based on a film by Hirokazu Kore-eda, explores this premise with tenderness, humour, and depth. Set in a surreal, bureaucratic afterlife, the play follows a group of recently deceased individuals as they grapple with the challenge of choosing their most treasured moment.
This play offers a number of distinct characters, shaped by their personal histories and the memories they hold dear. From those struggling to pinpoint a defining moment to others who are haunted by regrets, the play provides opportunities for nuanced performances that traverse joy, sorrow, and everything in between.
For the creative team, After Life the challenge lies in creating an atmosphere that feels both otherworldly and intimately familiar, drawing the audience into this liminal space between life and death. It will require inventive lighting, interesting minimalistic set, and movement to manage the prop changes and dressing.
Join us in bringing this thought-provoking, heartwarming story to life on stage.
