Twelfth Night
By William Shakespeare
July 2025
Directed By Sue Sachon
After success with A Midsummer Night's Dream in 2023, Sue is returning to LBDG to direct Twelfth Night: one of Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies. Set in the fictional land of Illyria, the play explores the complexity of human emotions through characters who are often at odds with their own desires or perceptions.
Viola, shipwrecked and separated from her twin brother, takes on a male disguise, calling herself Cesario, which sets off a series of mistaken identities, misunderstandings, and romantic entanglements. At its heart, Twelfth Night celebrates love in all its forms—romantic, selfless, and even self-indulgent—while gently reminding us of its capacity to bring joy as well as chaos.
